Do you have any tips on how I can upkeep my boat after having had it professionally detailed?2019-06-01T02:27:41+00:00
For Washing Down Exterior:
Extension pole with ultra-soft detailers broom head and sponge for tight spaces
Large bucket to fit soft broom head
Quality hose- with plastic not metal nozzle, so won’t scratch the boat
Non-skid deck cleaner soap- stiff brush- wet deck, rinse off (soapy water, light squirts of creme cleanser and stiff brush will also work)
For smooth surfaces – boat wash n’ wax:
Soapy water will clean and not strip away existing polish/wax, do small section at a time and rinse off before it drys
Quality hand chamois and extension pole chamois mop for larger vessels – drys to a streak and calcium free finish
Stainless Steel Upkeep:
Rust remover gel- often around bases of stanchions will need this product
Stainless steel polish- to remove any rust on the stainless, shine and seal
Clears Upkeep:
First wash, then spray with clear vinyl cleaning wax- wipe with wet microfibre cloth- then dry micro fibre cloth
Interior Surfaces Basic Upkeep:
Microfibre cloths wet with wash n’ wax soapy water – dry microfibre cloth
Boat polish to rub off any scuffs
Vinyl Seating White scotch-brite scourer pad – soapy water – gumption paste – rinse off then apply vinyl protectant to protect and moisturise
Zips:
Lanolin grease to wipe over zip tracks and press studs
Removable Carpets:
Bucket of water mixed with carpet cleaning shampoo detergent spread over carpets, lightly stiff brush, rinse well by hose
Teak Decking:
Scotch-bite pad on a pole with pad bracket, wet decks, scrub with teak cleaning component, rinse off, repeat, then apply teak brightening component, rinse off.
To seal and protect coat with a teak dresser and sealer, bear in mind if you do this you will need to repeat applying the dresser and sealer every few months
Marine Trade Supplies or most chandleries will be able to help you out with any of these products Enjoy, good luck

How much does a boat cleaning and detailing cost?2019-06-01T02:20:08+00:00

Our rates for a boat detailing are calculated according to the size and type of boat, whether for an interior or exterior cleaning or both or whether the boat is in port or dry.

Our prices are competitive, as we keep our overheads low and pass on the savings to clients
However the ceramic protection we propose to apply lasts much longer than a wax or a polish, which in fact reduces the cost of boat maintenance.
We will offer you a free, detailed quote so you know exactly what cost is involved with our service.

Yes we can make an appointment to assess your needs and then provide you with an accurate quote in writing. In some cases, for simple jobs like cleaning we can provide a quote based on our experience on the same type of boat without actually seing the boat first.

What is gelcoat? What are the advantages and disadvantages?2019-06-01T02:20:08+00:00

Gelcoat is a polyester resin composed of pigments to give it a color (usually white pigments). Most boats have a gelcoat finish on the outside, the majority of people think it is a paint.
The function of the gelcoat is to protect fiberglass from external aggressions. The biggest advantage of the gelcoat compared to the paint is that if the surface is scratched it can be sanded and thus renovated when it is not possible with paint.

How long does the cleaning and protection of your system last?2019-02-18T11:41:53+00:00

From our experience, the clean gelcoat with its protective layer should remain clean and shiny for at least 2 seasons and often longer, especially if the boat is washed regularly. The application of a traditional wax lasts between 3 and 4 months and on the hull between 4 and 6 months, depending on the weather conditions.
